A Lonely Creature will most likely be alone: Even if they are not alone, there will be a distance radiating from their every pore. If they are alone, they probably won't seem to mind; they are used to it.
A Lonely Creature will wear armor: This armor could take any form. Resting bitch face. Wearing all black. Listening to music. Eyes glued to the pages of a book. They will wear this armor to protect themselves from those who aim to cause distress.
A Lonely Creature may not always text you back: Loneliness is a cycle. Even when a Lonely Creature hungers for social engagement, they will prevent the possibility of feeling less-than or unimportant. They want to be invited to your wedding, but might not want to go.
A Lonely Creature will keep you at an arm's length: At least for a while, until they can be sure you will not leave. This is not about you.
Deep down, a Lonely Creature does not want to be lonely: But things have probably happened to them that made them feel as if loneliness is the only path.
Know that you cannot cure a Lonely Creature of their affliction: But you can make them feel important. Sometimes all it takes is a smile.
If YOU are a Lonely Creature: you are not as alone as you think
